Call for the Geochemistry Graphical Competition Award

The Division invites application for the Geochemistry Graphical Competition Award for the ACS Spring 2027 meeting in New Orleans, LA, from March 21–25, 2027. Applications should be sent by October 12, 2026 to the Program Chairs of the meeting, Vitalii Starchenko (starchenkov@ornl.gov) and Daniel Tsang (cedan@ust.hk), by email.

Whether it’s a stunning microscopy picture, an elegant 3D model, or a perfectly balanced data plot, we want to see how you are bridging the gap between rigorous science and compelling design.

Who is Eligible?

  • Students: Undergraduate, Master’s, or PhD candidates.

  • Early Career: Researchers within 7 years of their terminal degree (If there are extenuating circumstances (such as time spent raising children), please contact: starchenkov@ornl.gov or cedan@ust.hk).

  • The applicant must have already submitted a regular abstract to Geochemistry Division MAPS for the Meeting (see Application Procedure for details).

  • The applicant must be the presenting author (Only one application per presenting author will be considered).

  • The awardee must be a member of ACS Geochemistry Division at the time of the conference.

How to Submit?

  1. Select Your Masterpiece: Choose one high-resolution image or PDF of your graphical work.

  2. Format: 2x2 inches.

  3. Tell the Story: Provide one sentence explaining the science behind the visual and why this presentation helps others understand your work.

  4. Submit: Submit your graphical work to the GEOC Program Chairs, Vitalii Starchenko, at starchenkov@ornl.gov and Daniel Tsang at cedan@ust.hk before the application deadline (October 12, 2026).

Evaluation

Abstracts will be judged by the GEOC Awards Committee based on the visual quality and relevance to the symposia and national meeting themes.
